On the 5th September 2012, the new psychological crime novel, RED RIBBONS by debut Hachette Ireland author Louise Phillips, was launched at Hughes & Hughes Booksellers, St Stephen's Green, in the biggest and most successful launch in their 26 year history. Louise had invited bestselling author and Sunday Times True Crime Editor Niamh O'Connor to do the honours.

Author Signing

Niamh revealed how she had attended a workshop with Louise and had been blown away by her preceptive questioning of the Garda technical expert who was on hand to explain Crime Scene procedure to the group. Louise put her exeperience to good use in a book that gets right inside the heads of her protagonists, one of whom is a killer, in a chilling story, brilliantly written.

Ciara Doorley, Editorial Director of Hachette Ireland went on to say that Louise was an immense talent. As guests sipped a glass of wine or two, Louise got caught behind the signing table and couldn't escape all evening!

Packed full of friends, family and fellow writers, the wine and coversation flowed. Red and black balloons and Louise's signature red ribbon bedrecked the Hughes and Hughes store in Dublin's City Centre.

Louise had planned the evening meticulously, from the balloons to the bookmarks and the massive crowd, friends from Twitter and Facebook as well as her writer's group and the many writing organisations she's involved with. As Ciara Doorley said, your first book is special, and Red Ribbons is a very special book.

Indeed, Hughes and Hughes sold more books on the night than at any previous launch, so fingers crossed for a chart position next week!
